Research Center for Prevention and Care for People in Emergency and Trauma (RC-PreCET). Faculty of Nursing, Prince of Songkla University established on August 1, 2019 as a second phase from the extension of Research Center for Caring and Healing System for People with Trauma Emergency, and Disaster that has been operating since 2013, which originated from the changing situation of the world, both caused by human and environmental that affect well-being, health and safety in life, property. In addition, from the ongoing violence in the southern region of Thailand causing many injuries and people affected, which requires supportive care that meets the needs of complex socio-cultural problems and holistic care from the cooperation of all sectors. It is important to have nurses as leaders and members to organize systems and research to improve quality and outcomes of care. Therefore, RC-PreCET has been working with important goals and missions to develop the potential of nursing personnel, public health personnel and network researchers for the integration of nursing knowledge and related fields in conducting research to expand and apply with developed technology or innovations appropriate for solving problems, preventing and managing emergencies and injuries. Also, reducing the impacts in various fields such as violence, disability, rehabilitation costs. Moreover, it is also a learning resource and disseminate such knowledge in the form of academic, innovation, or knowledge for the benefit of the community, society with the approaches according to the 21st century country development and long-term national strategy. In addition, it is also a unit that receives funds from the country to develop research projects and working mechanisms in all sectors related to the emergency medical system in the south of Thailand.
Outstanding Achievements of the Research Center
INOVATION
Nursing Innovations at department and area level. Nursing manuals and guidelines have been developed to promote the quality of care and lead to good outcomes for service users. There are more than 10 utilization agencies across the country.
NETWORKING
Network Innovation. A system of advisors and mentors has been developed to provide support and advice and to cooperate in the implementation of the moving development of vulnerable people in disaster situations and emergency medical services situation in security areas or the southern border of Thailand.
NEW RECEARCHER
Institutional Innovation. We have developed a new generation of researchers and helps to support the research process as a team and inter-institutional cooperation through integrated research projects, research project writing, project development and research management including publishing.
Furthermore, RC-PreCET has partnered with more than 10 leaders’ networks in the field of excellence in emergency care from educational institutions, government, and private agencies to support and pushing for a local, national or international academic conference continuously every year. In 2021, the year that we have to face Covid-19 pandemic situation. This is a type of emergency where everyone and all parties must cooperate and prepare for change in all aspects and adapting to new normal conditions. The research center plays a role in the development of multidisciplinary teams for long-term studies.
